Happy Noises

Pics 11.26.07

Chillin' with lobby and monkey in the morning.

Her little jeans are so funny!
I tried to sit her upright and take a pic of her cute outfit. She looks like she's ollying. Even off balance she's still adorable.

She scratched her face, but she's still a cutie.

The cutest baby. She's getting so strong. Holding her head up at 8 weeks. I love this pic.

If it ain't one thing, it's anotha'!

Passed out in her polka dots.

Cute purple outfit. Don't mind the spit up spots.

Staring intently at the starfish in her bouncy seat.

Does this outfit make her hair look red?
It's really hard to keep up with the blog when you have a baby! The last two weeks were a bit rough. Maya was spitting up a lot. She was very uncomfortable; squirming and grunting. She wasn't sleeping well, which meant I wasn't sleeping either. Maybe she has gas, maybe she is lactose intollerant, maybe this maybe that! As a new mom, everything is a question. Here's something I've learned quick, though: if you feel like something's wrong - it usually is. Just go to the doctor. So we finally went to the Dr. She has gastric reflux and thrush.
Through diligent medicinal application, the thrush is pretty much gone. The gastric reflux meds, Zantac, seem to be working too. It is, however, a mint liquid. Note to the idiots who designed this drug: babies don't like the taste of mint! And it's seriously important to get them to swallow it...but you're fighting an uphill battle when all they do is spit it out because it tastes like shit to them. So, I sit there with a 1cc syringe squirting meds into her mouth and sucking up what she spits out, only to squirt it back in again! Fun. She probably hates me.
Maya now weighs 10lbs 7oz. She's got chubby little cheeks and is very, very cute. I love her so much! She recently decided she likes her swing and has also discovered the leaves and animals above it! She's graduated to size one swaddlers and is wearing 0-3 month clothes now! She smiles! But more at Adam than anyone else.

First Doctor Visit

The first doctor visit was kind of hairy. It was the first time we'd been out since leaving the hospital, but we managed to survive. Maya initially hated her car seat and I was nervous this trip would be a disaster. (Car seat harnesses are designed really badly, btw.) Two days after we had gotten home from the hospital, the visiting nurse stopped by. She came at a really good time because I had been trying to feed Maya for 2 hours beforehand, was completely overwhelmed and bawled for about two hours. Maya is sometimes very ravenous and gets frustrated. Fortunately, Judi calmed us down. Anyway, that wasn't the point of the story. Judi weighed Maya and she'd lost 4 oz since birth. But, by her first doctor appointment that Friday she'd gained 3 oz and was almost back to birth weight in a week!!

First Bath

Maya likes the bath. This was her first bath and initially she was skeptical, but now she's a fish! She enjoys making farty bubbles and has a tendency to let it all go once she's relaxed by the warm environment. Oh well, if someone was cleaning up after me, maybe I'd poop in the bath too.
